Registration Information

Registration Requirements

To register to vote in Hernando County you must be:

• At least 18 years old (You may pre-register at 16 years old)
• A United States citizen
• A resident of Hernando County
• Not convicted of a felony (Or if you were, your rights relating to voting have been restored)
• Not adjudicated mentally incapacitated with respect to voting (Or if you have been, your competency has been restored)

Complete A Voter Registration Application

To register to vote you must complete a voter registration application.

You can obtain a registration at:

• The Supervisor of Elections office
• The Department of Motor Vehicles
• Social service agencies
• Public libraries
• Post offices

 OR you can call the Supervisor of Elections office and request that an application be mailed to you.

If you would like to use the online form:

• Click the REGISTER TO VOTE link at the top of this page
• Fill out the form
• Print the form
• Sign the form
• Return the form to the Elections office by mail or in person

What Information Should I Keep Up To Date

It is important to keep the following information in your voter registration record current:

• Residence address
• Mailing address
• Name
• Party Affiliation
• Signature

Address Change

If you need to update your address, you may do so in one of the following ways:

• Call the Elections office at 352-754-4125
• Complete a voter registration application and return it to the Elections office in person or by mail 
• Send a note to the Elections office and include your:
  
  • Name
  • New residence address
  • New mailing address (if different)
  • Signature
  • Voter registration number or date of birth

Name Change

If you need to change your name, you may do so in one of the following ways:

• Complete a voter registration application and return it to the Elections office in person or by mail
• Send a note to the Elections office and include your:
  
  • Old name
  • New name
  • New signature
  • Residence address
  • Mailing address (if different)
  • Voter registration number or date of birth

Party Change

If you need to change your party affiliation, you may do so in one of the following ways:

• Complete a voter registration application and return it to the Elections office in person or by mail
• Send a note to the Elections office and include your: 
  • Name
  • New party choice
  • Residence address
  • Mailing address (if different)
  • Signature
  • Voter registration number or date of birth
